From the heart of the Gulf of Poets, in the evocative setting of the Castle of San Giorgio in Lerici (SP), The Lighthouse of Contemporary Art – Lighthouse Contemporary 2025 comes to life.
This exhibition project is specially designed for the castle’s spaces and conceived as a compass to navigate the new routes—like cardinal points—of contemporary art.
The exhibition, promoted by Wizard Gallery and curated by Chiara Guidi, aims to provide the public with coordinates—after identifying the key currents of various artistic trends—for a conscious, transversal, and international understanding of today’s most relevant artistic languages.
The project unfolds as a single large-scale installation that extends through the various rooms and across the three floors of the Castle.
The choice of the term “lighthouse” is closely tied to both the physical and symbolic connotation of the location: perceived as a beacon, the Castle of San Giorgio rises imposingly on the rocky promontory overlooking the sea, dominating the horizon.
A stronghold amid the waves, a point of reference and orientation, the lighthouse-castle thus becomes a place of arrival and guidance for visitors: no longer just a simple venue for an exhibition, but a truly “illuminating” landmark for the art world and its audience.
Conceived in close dialogue with the architecture and history of the castle, The Lighthouse of Contemporary Art, through the various media and languages of the selected artists, seeks to be a cultural showcase and a meaningful orientation event.
