Krizia Galfo

Krizia Galfo (1987) has been influenced by three different cities and paths: she graduated in Modern literature in Catania; then she started painting in London thanks to some lectures at Chelsea College of Arts and at Central Saint Martins; In Rome, instead, she specialized her practice attending the artist’s studio of Claudio Valenti and several painting workshop by international artists like David Jon Kassan, Carmen Mansilla and Vincent Desiderio.

Her studio is in Ombrelloni (Rome). Her work “Caterina” is currently on view at Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Roma at the experimental show project “Materia Nova. Roma. Ultime generazioni a confronto” curated by Massimo Mininni. Among her publications: “Vera” curated by Damiana Leoni and “Mod Portrait” 2021 (international contest of figurative art).

She mainly focuses on oil on canvas portraits. In such a moment where seriality off images sped up and flattened the viewing, the use of painting as main medium is a political and personal choice to go back to slowness. Only expanding time, we can understand the shape, ourself, influences and the others. Her still lifes can be considered as night portraits.

Through the darkness and the objects she describes characters of the bourgeoisie in a dream dimension. Her research is more complete and focused in Christian iconography; a project that, starting from the agiographical literature, she explores the most intimate and human dimension of saints, symbols related to tradition lightened by a neon light instead.
