On the occasion of NAP+ Amsterdam 2026, NP ArtLab presents a solo project by Margherita Pedrotta, titled Memory of a Landscape."
Margherita Pedrotta’s exhibition project for NP-ArtLab is structured around a minimalist and intimate installation, capable of evoking a profound emotional response and resonating with the Dutch context through its dialogue with the fluid element of water.
The booth is transformed into a suspended space, brought to life by four fully functional sculptural fountains: each one slightly different in size, that share the same conceptual and formal framework. Within them, a precise physical and atmospheric artifice unfolds: a microclimate of perpetual freezing and thawing, simulated rain falling on a pile of artificial snow, enveloping real flowers made immortal by an epoxy resin coating. Cut flowers, traditionally associated with memento mori and the cult of the dead, are spared decay through a tangible simulation.
This same concept of artifice is repeated, in a different and deceptive form, in the cycle of three works displayed on the wall: Cornfield 1, Cornfield 2, and House. Derived from video frames recorded by the artist during a train ride from Milan to the Turin countryside of her childhood, these images are the result of a hybrid process that, as the artist herself explains, “blends many techniques: it begins with video art, moves into photography, becomes a digital work, and ultimately approaches painting.”
