Palazzo Diedo opening, new cultural project in Venice
The official opening of Palazzo Diedo will take place in 2024, after a massive restoration coordinated by the architect Silvio Fassi, a new artistic center in one of the most lively areas of Venice. The palace was bought by Nicolas Berggruen, who wants to relaunch Venice's role as a creative hub.
Palazzo Diedo is among several new art institutions of the city: in Canareggio district for instance, between the train station and Campo Santi Apostoli, there is the Kapoor Foundation at Palazzo Manfrin, and the newborn Berggruen Arts & Culture, a project of the philanthropist Nicolas Berggruen ( Paris, 1961), who bought both the Casa dei Tre Oci on the Giudecca Island and Palazzo Diedo, an historic building on the edge of Strada Nova, the main route used to walk from the railway to Rialto and San Marco.
